PACA actions
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has cited six produce businesses for failure to pay reparation awards issued under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.
These businesses have been barred from operating in the produce industry until their awards are paid. The businesses were served complaints by USDA and were given the opportunity to respond. USDA subsequently ordered payment of the amounts mentioned below.
The businesses are: — Borderland Trading Inc., Rio Rico, Ariz., for failing to pay a $176,714 award in favor of an Illinois seller. The sole officer, director and stockholder is Sean A. Padilla.
— Garduno Bros., Los Angeles, for failing to pay a $9,900 award in favor of a California seller. The sole proprietor is Jose Luis Garduno.
— Sunagro Ltd., Solana Beach, Calif., for failing to pay a $10,420 award in favor of a Louisiana seller. The sole proprietor is Gluschankeff Sergio.
— Halls Produce Inc., Oaktown, Ind., for failing to pay a $15,300 award in favor of an Arkansas seller. The sole officer, director and stockholder is Christopher J. Hall.
— Vine Ripe Texas Inc., Houston, for failing to pay a $23,443 award in favor of a Florida seller. The officers, directors and major stockholders are Jack R. Goldstein, Donald S. Griffin and Robert W. Wooten.
— Emerald City Pre-Pack Inc., Puyallup, Wash., for failing to pay a $6,804 award in favor of a California seller. The officers, directors, and major stockholders are James D. Hamilton, Imelda Hamilton and Frederick Hamilton.
